Zwift lists 13 trainer entries that ship with Cog and Click (“Ready”) and 23 models that can take the upgrade kit, and Cog fits most 8 to 13 speed bikes. It does not fit Shimano Micro Spline, SRAM XD/XDR or Campagnolo freehub bodies, and Zwift lists Campagnolo 13-speed chains as excluded. Virtual shifting only works when the trainer is connected over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, never ANT+. Check your trainer in the tables below, then your bike’s freehub, then your connection.

What Cog will not fit
Zwift states Cog is compatible with most 8 to 13 speed bikes, and its trainer list excludes Shimano Micro Spline freehub bodies, SRAM XD/XDR freehub bodies, Campagnolo freehub bodies, Campagnolo N3W 13-speed chains and some Specialized Stumpjumper models (2018 to 2021). Zwift’s Cog and Click FAQ adds belt-driven bikes, bikes with internal gear hubs (Shimano Alfine and Nexus) and the Campagnolo Ekar 13-speed chain, and says Cog works with standard 8 to 13 speed chains and SRAM Flattop. A mountain bike on a 12-speed XD driver is the usual casualty; the cassette route in the cassette and freehub guide is the alternative.
The connection rule
Zwift’s virtual shifting FAQ says virtual shifting “isn’t supported when your trainer is connected through ANT+”; its supported trainer connections include Bluetooth, the Zwift Companion bridge, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB. That matters because most trainers list ANT+ among their connections. Garmin lists the NEO 2T with ANT+ and Bluetooth only, so choose Bluetooth for shifting. Common questions
Can any smart trainer use Zwift Cog? No, only models on the lists above. Working with Zwift is a separate claim from supporting virtual shifting.
Do I need Click as well? The Ready bundles include both. Zwift Play and the Ride frame’s controls also send shift commands, per Zwift’s virtual shifting FAQ.
Why can I ride but not shift? Check the trainer is paired over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, not ANT+. In a workout, Zwift allows virtual shifting only during free ride segments, not while ERG mode sets the resistance.
